Kathy Taylor played women's lacrosse at Cornell University and graduated in 1984. She was the first Cornell women's lacrosse player named to the All-Ivy League First Team, finishing her college career with 36 goals and 49 points. She holds a master's degree in counseling. Her husband, Joseph Taylor, is also a Cornell lacrosse letterwinner.
Her playing career laid the groundwork for what would become more than 30 years of coaching at every level of the women's game — from the first practice she ran at Fayetteville-Manlius in 1988 to the national championship she won at Le Moyne in 2018.
